The Snow is Coming!

Just when the snow started to melt, I read that more snow is coming! Don't get me wrong, I love the snow in December and January for the holidays, but with March 1st being tomorrow...I'd much rather be looking ahead to warmer days.

You've probably been going through the normal routine of shoveling out your car once the plow hits. Or maybe you've gassed up the snow blower twice within the last month. We know how much of a pain it can be to shovel and we wanted to help. Tomorrow morning we're sending Intern Egan out with a shovel to help listeners with this inevitable chore! So if your back is aching, give us a call tomorrow at 444-1049 and maybe Intern Egan will show up at your house!

The Oscars

So all day at work people are talking about whether or not Ellen DeGeneres did a good job hosting the Oscars last night. I think she did a great job. I was cracking up when she made the joke about no one voting for Jennifer Hudson on American Idol and Jennifer still ended up with an Oscar nomination...and then Ellen turned to Al Gore and said "America did vote for you and...."

I liked the fact that Ellen could make jokes about herself and others, but not have it be too offensive to anyone watching at home.

But speaking of offensive, what were some of the stars wearing! Meryl Streep's giant orange beaded necklace was horrible. It looked like she got ready in the dark, when money's not an issue, there's no excuse for that.

Some of the best dressed, Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon and, of course, George Clooney!

For me, the most exciting moment was seeing Jennifer Hudson win for Best Supporting Actress. She's proved some of Hollywood's most powerful people wrong and she's made Simon Cowell eat his words, who wouldn't want to do that!

The Girly Spot

So if you missed this morning's 'Girly Spot', here's what we talked about.

Britney is no original when it comes to shaving her head bald. Others have gone bald before, it's just that most women in Hollywood do it for a movie role--not because they've completely wigged out!

Here's some examples:

Natalie Portman for her role in 'V for Vendetta'; Sigourney Weaver for her role in 'Alien 3' and who could forget Demi Moore's bald head for her role in 'G.I. Jane'

I'll tell you what, I'm not jumping on that bandwagon anytime soon!

Also, if you need to lose weight and tone up fast, here's four classic moves that work from some of Hollywood's top trainers:

1) Crunches
2) Squats
3) Push Ups
4) Bicep Curls

Now we just need to find the time to do it!

Hair Horror Stories

What was Britney Spears thinking? I was shocked when I popped online this weekend and saw that she had shaved her head. She had such beautiful hair too. Part of me thinks, OK, she's in Hollywood and the famous people will do anything to get their name and face in the magazines. Then another part of me thinks, WOW, she needs some help!

I've never gone as far as to shave my head, but I've had my fair share of bad hairstyles. Growing as a "New Kids on the Block" fan, me and some of my girlfriends had hair that came to our chins with a long, braided tail going down our back....gross, I know. My sisters still don't let me forget that look.

I suppose Britney is just trying to express herself, but I wonder if her kids even recognize her.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

Whether you love the 14th of February or not, it's always good for a few stories.

This morning we read that 15% of women buy flowers for themselves on Valentine's Day. That actually didn't surprise me. I worked with a young woman who one year, wanted to get back at a co-worker she used to date. What better way than to send yourself flowers from Secret Admirer "Tom". And from what I observed, it worked, he REALLY got jealous!

Quick side note, if you plan on getting someone flowers...1) Make sure they're not allergic (it happens) and 2) don't take flowers from the cemetery. I dated a guy who actually admitted he grabbed the flowers from the cemetery because the flower shops were closed. Needless to say the relationship didn't last very long.

If you're spending the holiday with a loved one or not, at least try to do something that you enjoy and maybe it's simply buying yourself some flowers.

My FIRST Blog

COOL! My first blog....I feel so hip, but don't worry I won't use those different abbreviations like BRB or BFF or LOL (I'm not even sure I know what all of those mean, I just know that when I get an email from my 19-year-old sister she uses a lot of them).

Looking ahead to tomorrow, Valentine's Day, I've realized my husband Aaron and I should probably make reservations instead of just winging it and going to a restaurant in hopes of getting seated. I'm excited because it's our first 'married' Valentine's Day and it's always fun to get dressed up and go out to eat.

Valentine's Day is also very bittersweet for me. I've lost of family member on that day, my Grandma and step-Grandpa were married on that day and some of my most favorite memories all happened on Valentine's Day!

Make sure to listen to tomorrow's show because we're talking about bizarre Valentine's Day stories, and believe me, I've got mine :)

Regardless, it's a great day to eat a lot of chocolate!
